Why am I passionate about this?

Found family is my favorite trope. You can change up the genre but give me a cast of loveable characters and you got me. It hits close to home, since when I left home to go to college, I created my own family. They are my Albany family, and we all still meet up at least twice a year no matter that we all live across the country. The bonds we created as we figured out who each of us was, are still strong to this day. I write stories that contain those same elements so everyone can experience the joys and tribulations of these bonds.

The books I picked & why

Book cover of Alpha

Toni Binns Why did I love this book?

This book, well in fact this whole series is about family and what it means to create a new one.

Three guys are hiking in the woods and discover a broken wolf pack. This story is about the fight to save and heal this family. Yes, it centers around shifters, but that is not the focus of the book. The focus is on each of the characters and how they grow as a person.

You feel like you are living beside them, and that they are your friends. Each book focuses on a different pack member and what life changes they are going through with the change of leadership within the pack. Be prepared to want to binge-read them all as everyone asks themselves can this pack be saved?

Why should I read it?

What is this book about?

A pack broken.
A pup in danger.
A submissive wolf who will fight with her last breath.

Hayden Scott doesn’t know his stroll in the woods is going to start with a backpack full of watermelon and end with him the new alpha of the Ghost Mountain Pack. A very traumatized pack, and those are only the shifters he can see. Too many are missing, hiding in the woods or worse.

His wolf doesn’t care. He has a pack. One with maple-sryup-covered toddlers, a ten-year-old boy who smells like wolf right up until he shifts, and a brave woman with…

Book cover of Magic Bites

Toni Binns Why did I love this book?

This book started my love of urban fantasy. My copy is failing apart at the seams.

I love this series so much. I would like to think I could be friends with Kate. This series is finally complete for those who want something done before they start it.

Atlanta looks very different than the city you and I know. Kate is a mercenary who has to track down the murder of a family member. Yet, losing him kicks off the creation that maybe she doesn’t need to be alone.

It's the start of her creating her own family and not wanting to let go - no matter the cost.

What is this book about?

Kate Daniels is about to enter a world of gritty magic and dangerous mystery! Vampires, necromancers and mages abound on the city streets, with one kickass heroine in the middle

Future Atlanta is an interesting place to live: one moment magic dominates, and cars stall and guns fail. The next, technology takes over and the defensive spells no longer protect your house from monsters.

Here skyscrapers topple under the onslaught of magic; the Pack, a paramilitary clan of shapechangers, prowl through the ruined streets; and the Masters of the Dead, necromancers driven by their thirst for knowledge and wealth, pilot…

Book cover of Daughter of No Worlds

Toni Binns Why did I love this book?

I don’t know where to start. I read all three books back to back.

It was too hard to back away from Tisaanah and Max’s story spanning all three books. I had to know what happened next to them and what choices they were going to make.

The world-building is amazing and all I could hope was that Tisaanah would make it to the next obstacle in her way to free her people along with the best friend she left behind when she fled slavery. Now she needs to learn magic and hopefully lead a rebellion before it is too late.

Book cover of Blood Kissed

Toni Binns Why did I love this book?

I love the characters in this series.

Lizzie and Belle are best friends. The kind that you want in your life and you want to live next door to. Well, if you don’t mind witches, magic, and living in werewolf territory. The bond between the two of them is so tight they touch each other's minds.

Follow along as they fight to stay hidden and safe while hunting a vampire that stalks their home. Each book brings us closer to the mystery of the two of them and I can’t wait to see where it ends.

What is this book about?

In a world where magic and science sit side by side, and powerful witches are considered necessary aides for all governments, Lizzie Grace is something of an outlier. Though born into one the most powerful blue blood witch families, she wants nothing to do with either her past or her magic. But when she and Belle, her human familiar and best friend, open a small cafe in the Faelan werewolf reservation, she quickly finds herself enmeshed in the hunt for a vampire intent on wreaking bloody havoc. It’s a hunt that soon becomes personal, and one that is going to take…

Book cover of Firstborn Academy: Shadow Trials

Toni Binns Why did I love this book?

The Firstborn are required to leave their families and set through a gate.

To what they have no freaking idea. I was so thankful that the whole series was out when I started to read Nova’s story. It was a quick enjoyable read for a weekend that I needed to escape without leaving the house.

After stepping through the portal Nova creates a bond with two other friends that make you want to visit this world. Except for the world ending and fighting an endless war. You can’t help but root for them and hope they can figure out a way to save everyone.

Once I started to read it, I couldn’t put it down.
